How to Choose

...Not sure where to start? You're not alone.

The hemp market can feel overwhelming — dozens of product types, unfamiliar terms, and not enough plain-language explanation. This guide cuts through it. By the end, you'll know exactly what to look for and how to find the right product for you.

───

Step 1: Start with what you already know

The easiest way to find your footing is to start with familiar reference points.

Do you enjoy the smell of fresh citrus? → Look for strains high in Limonene

Do you prefer earthy, grounding aromas? → Look for Myrcene or Humulene

Do you love florals — lavender, herbs? → Look for Linalool or Ocimene

Do you like bold, spicy, complex flavors? → Look for Caryophyllene or Terpinolene

Not sure? Start with a flower strain that has a terpene profile that sounds appealing. Flower is the most straightforward format and gives you a clear sense of what you like before branching into concentrates.

───

Step 2: Choose your format

Flower

The most familiar format. THCA hemp flower looks, smells, and smokes like traditional cannabis. It's the best starting point for most people — widely available, easy to understand, and available in a huge range of strains and terpene profiles.

Best for: First-timers, people who prefer smoking, anyone who wants variety in strains.

───

Prerolls

Pre-ground and rolled flower — same experience as flower, just ready to go. Convenient, consistent, no prep required.

Best for: Convenience, on-the-go use, trying a strain before buying in bulk.

Infused Prerolls

Prerolls that have been infused with concentrate — live rosin, bubble hash, or kief. Stronger than standard prerolls, more complex flavor, longer lasting.

Best for: Experienced users who want more from a preroll. Not recommended as a starting point.

───

Live Rosin

Live rosin is a solventless concentrate made by pressing fresh-frozen cannabis with heat and pressure — no chemicals, no solvents. The result is a full-flavored, terpene-rich concentrate that many enthusiasts consider the gold standard.

It's consumed by dabbing (using a dab rig or electronic vaporizer) or can be added to flower in a bowl or preroll.

Best for: Flavor enthusiasts, concentrate users, people who want a clean full-spectrum experience.

Not ideal for: First-timers or anyone without dabbing equipment.

───

Bubble Hash

Bubble hash is made by using ice water to separate trichomes from the plant — another solventless process. It ranges from "half melt" (smokes well on top of flower) to "full melt" (clean enough to dab on its own). Quality bubble hash has a rich, complex flavor profile.

Best for: Concentrate enthusiasts who appreciate the craft of solventless extraction.

How to use: Crumble on top of flower in a bowl, or dab if it's full melt quality.

───

Step 3: Read the terpene profile

Every product on Gold Main Street shows the dominant terpenes for that strain. Use the icons as a quick flavor guide — they'll tell you whether a strain is citrusy, earthy, floral, spicy, or piney before you read a single word of the description.

If you want to go deeper, our Terpene Guide covers every terpene we carry in detail.

───

Step 4: Check the COA

Every product includes a link to its Certificate of Analysis — a lab report from an independent third-party lab. It confirms:

• Cannabinoid levels (THCA, Delta-9 THC, CBD, etc.)

• Delta-9 THC is within the legal 0.3% limit

• No pesticides, heavy metals, or microbials

If a brand doesn't make their COA easy to find, that's a red flag. Ours are on every product page.

───

Step 5: Start small

Especially if you're new to hemp or returning after a long break — start with less than you think you need. THCA flower and concentrates are potent. There's no rush.
